This post in honor of Ticket Solutions, a great source for your Cubs Tickets.
Today is one of my favorite days of the year - I start my ticket draft with my season ticket group. We each get a seat for opening day (my seats are in section 433 row 8, in case you want to visit and buy me a beer). We're splitting the Sept 16 and 17 Brewer games, too, since we suspect those will be very meaningful. Otherwise, what we do is draft in two sections - day games and night games.
I know a lot of folks who do this by lottery or some draconian method, but we've found that the draft approach works really well, if we set it up correctly. In the end, we usually end up sharing/swapping tickets, so this is a pretty low stress event for us.
The high stress part was getting the season tickets to begin with. One of my group, who was a co-worker back in 2004, was supposed to go get on line to get the tickets. This was after the 2003 playoff run, where we couldn't get tickets at all, so we decided to buck-up for season tickets (thus fulfilling a life-long dream of mine). Sine my buddy got called in for a sales meeting, I was dispatched at the 11th hour to get to Wrigley by 4am to get on the line. I ended up finally getting my tickets after 5pm that night. It was an adventure, but Billy Williams showed up and gave a speech and took questions while we waited. And, believe me, it is well worth it, although the prices have been skyrocketing since we signed-up. Best part is, I pay only 1/8 of the cost (I split my share with a friend) and the tickets are in my name. Not a bad deal, if I may say so myself.
