After the day off, I expect Wood to appear in one of the split-squad games and again on Wednesday. If he feels alright on Thursday morning, the race is over.
As Maddog has been pointing out, Kevin Hart will make this team. On the pre-game with Ron Santo, Lou again said he believes Hart earned a spot. He also talked about Neal Cotts, but very non-committal. Tim Lahey also came up, and it appears he is being dangled for a trade.
Over at cubs.com, Lou's not figuring on Ronny Cedeno as an outfielder anymore. He hasn't seen enough time in the outfield, thanks to his leg problems, and, don't forget, he had arm issues early in camp, too.
"It's not helping him," Cubs manager Lou Piniella said of Cedeno being on the sidelines. "We know he can play the infield, so that's why we'll probably just keep him in the infield
So, Fukudome will end playing some center, and Lou is planning on him getting some time there
One backup spot the Cubs aren't set on is center field. Expect to see Fukudome play there this coming week.
"If somebody gets hurt in the course of a game, or a double switch, we have to give him a little work in center field," Piniella said.
Day off tomorrow. Look for some more roster moves to be made.

Fukudome in CF is what we'll be seeing by May 15th even though Fukudome signed here specifically to play RF.
The best thing for Felix Pie is to get traded. Sadly, he won't get the chance he deserves with this team.
I would like to see a Pie/Fukudome and Fukudome/Murton pairing in CF/RF as a platoon set-up.
Maddog, that's wildly selfish of Fukudome. Ryan Theriot will play all nine positions poorly whenever he's asked!
Theriot will bat in any spot as well. We'll never have another player like Theriot. We should cherish his time as a Cub.
