The Cubs are in need of a right-handed hitting center fielder. Most of the focus has been on Marlon Byrd and Coco Crisp, but there are more guys who may be available.
- Marlon Byrd
- Rangers are asking too much - Murton plus pitching prospect(s)
- Coco Crisp
- Boston might be in need of some pitching, but not necessarily the one the Cubs have available.
- Reed Johnson
Rumored to be on waivers3/23 Just released by the Jays, but isn't much of a center fielder- Randy Winn
- On a supposed list being passed around by Giants' scouts. Another guy who is more of a corner-outfielder these days
- Ryan Freel
- Hard to imagine the Reds moving him within the division
- Chone Figgins
- A good utility player, not someone the Angels are likely to part with
- Brandon Inge
- Hard to imagine this happening. He does play eight positions, though.
- Reggie Willits
- Another Angel, who is more likely to go to AAA than be traded
- Marcus Thames
- Another Tiger, mentioned around a deal with Wuertz. I don't like either end of that deal.
Who else? There are others, for sure.
Updates
- Jeff DaVanon
- Freshly released from San Diego
- Jay Payton
- Orioles want to unload him
- Jose Cruz, Jr.
- NRI in Houston. Historically strong defender and platoon player, but numbers against lefties dropped radically during his age 33 season in 2007.
