When the Cubs picked up former Cleveland, Seattle and Texas first baseman Ben Broussard, Iowa seemed to be his most likely destination, and was reported to be his new home in a few places (here's one). Instead, he's on his way to Tennessee to join the Smokies, as Matt Craig is moved to the minor league DL.
So, Broussard requests his own release from the Yankees, as was his right, while in AAA Scranton. And goes to AA ball for the Cubs. Did he just demote himself? Or was he so sure is path was blocked in New York....as if it isn't in Chicago? What is the path for a 31 year old pinch hitter?
