Are Jake Peavy, Garrett Olson and Felix Pie on the Move?

Jeff Zrebiec and Peter Schmuck have news that the Orioles could be Kevin Towers' third team.

From the Baltimore Sun:

The Orioles have revisited trade talks with the Chicago Cubs about multi-tool outfielder Felix Pie, according to industry sources, and could end up as the third team in a three-way deal that would send marquee right-hander Jake Peavy from the San Diego Padres to Chicago....Sources said that the Cubs are looking for a young pitcher in return with one possible scenario being the Orioles sending starter Garrett Olson to Chicago, who then could trade the left-hander to the Padres as part of a package for Peavy.

Interesting. The Orioles and the Cubs certainly have the Andy MacPhail connection, and the deep knowledge of each others' prospects from all the Brain Roberts jabber last year.

The Orioles once targeted Pie during the Brian Roberts talks, while the Padres wanted Olson for Khalil Greene.

With Khalil Greene, you've got another hefty salary. I could see the Cubs taking that one on. I'm really not sure how much of an upgrade, if any, he'd be over Ryan Theriot.

Naturally, I'm compelled to provide some PITCHf/x analysis on Olson.

Olson's stuff is not overwhelming. Maxing out his fastball below 93 mph, it usually sits in the upper 80s. He also throws a straight change and a slurvey looking curveball that check in around 80/82.

Not a single change-up to a lefty hitter. While the change and slider are decent, they are certainly not spectacular. And the fastball is nothing special. He appears to be pitching to contact, which may be a good thing in Petco.
