Cubs Prospect Rankings

John Sickels at MinorLeagueBall.com has posted his review of the Cubs top prospects.

John has this to say in his summary

The Cubs system has thinned out, and there is no one with impact hitting potential at the higher levels.

This pretty much captures my sentiments exactly: no close-to-ready bats in the system. Some pitching, yes.

Josh Vitters is #1, Jeff Samardzija is #2. Esmalin Caridad checks in at 15. I watched an inning of Caridad on MLB.com's broadcast of the AFL championship game. He didn't look that good to me. His breaking ball didn't really break, and everything stayed up. According to a scout.com article from last year (or thereabouts), that is exactly his issue, when his stuff is off.
