Cubs Pass on Peavy

From the mouth of Kevin Towers, to MLB.com:

"It doesn't look like anything is going to happen with the Cubs," Towers said.

Towers indicated that Cubs GM Jim Hendry pulled out of the deal.

"He said he's got other things going on. I respect his position," Towers said.

If this is true, the Cubs are going to be honing on a right fielder who can bat left-handed and some more bullpen help - also of the left-handed and veteran variety.
