I’ve got a question about run values for pitches that I was hoping you might be able to answer.
As I understand, run values are the changes in run expectancy based on runners/outs situation runs expectations. So do they have run expectations for the situations of runners/outs/pitch count? They would need some thing like this to differentiate run values for multiple pitches in the same at bat, right? Otherwise, a 0-0 FA run value is equal to a 1-2 CH.
The run values I've been using do not include base runners. Just the count and the outcome of the pitch.
That may change, as I work towards a component based method.
