Jeff Samardzija continued his questionable journey towards the 2010 Cubs rotation. Making his second start for Mexicali, Samardzija completed six innings while allowing one run on six hits. He struck out four and didn't give up any walks.
Hopefully he'll get a start at Mazlatan at some point, since they stream their home games online.

Dude, he's fu*king good. What do you mean "questionable"? Give the kid a chance, he's only 24 years old.
Punting Rich Harden for an underdeveloped starter is questionable. I think he has a lot of promise, but he's not there yet. I love his moving fastball, but his offspeed and breaking stuff is miles away from ready.
I think Harry is suggesting he needs a chance to develop further in AAA, and that the Cubs letting Harden walk while depending on the kid they haven't given a chance to develop isn't a good decision.
Punting Harden has nothing to do with Shark and everything to do with Harden and Bradley. Rich Harden isn't all that much healthier than he was before he got here, he was just able to make a few more starts. He missed significant time due to two different injuries this year. It taxes your bullpen and creates problem for your entire rotation if you have a guy who you can't count on to give you even 150 innings, no matter how good. And Harden wasn't that good in 2009. That's why he's gone. That, and the fact that he'll ask for the money we're going to have to spend on getting rid of Bradley.
