Garza Slides Past Snakes

Matt Garza leads the majors in strike outs with 51. He's also the new owner of the Cubs' April strike out record, blowing past Kerry Wood's mark of 46. His 10 K outing in Phoenix last night featured a slider that simply overwhelmed the Diamondbacks.

  • 21 total sliders for the game
    • 12 swings
      • 1 foul ball
      • 11 whiffs
    • 9 takes
      • 6 called balls
      • 3 called strikes
The foul ball was on an 0-0 count, so he got 15 strikes while no one put it in play. It was strike three on eight occasions, too.

To recap, Garza's slider was ZOMG WE ARE SUPPOSED TO HIT THAT!?!?! good.
